My Sister's Quilt
Friday, 20th November
I'd been getting on well with the production of the quilt but was nearly ready to start on the reverse, so was wondering if the fabric I'd ordered had arrived yet at the supplier. I was about to enquire when an email came through with profuse apologies! The consignment from Japan had arrived but the particular fabric I'd ordered, which she had also ordered, had not been included in the consignment. The supplier was really upset for me but by this time, I was getting used to making changes in the thought process! My immediate reaction, therefore, was to ask if I could pop down to see what fabrics had arrived so that I could choose some different ones.
So on Friday afternoon, my husband and I drove down and as we walked into the supplier's house, were confronted with piles of the most beautiful fabric. I could have bought the lot!!!
I'd brought down what I'd done so far on the quilt and by this time, it really was just deciding on the reverse agin, so we needed to decide on replacing the crane fabric.
I did so love the crane fabric though, and the supplier suggested that she did have other colourways in it. She brought out a 'red' in the crane fabric and I instantly fell in love with it. However, this then didn't match the lilac plain fabric I'd bought, nor the lilac Japanese ladies fabric I'd chosen.
No problem though - I loved the red crane fabric so much, I suggested we swop the lilac plain fabric for red plain fabric (it matched really well), and that I would use the red crane fabric in the centre diamond too - I knew it would then really show off the cranes in the fabric. Decision made - and fairly quickly too. I was all set to complete the quilt!
