My Sister's Quilt
Second week in November
Throughout the time waiting to go back to down to the suplier, I spent time thinking about the design and alternatives.
Thursday mornings are generally spent at a local quilting group I joined some months ago so I put my Rose Window quilt to one side and picked up one of my other projects to work on at the group. However, when I went along, one of the members brought the 'just-released' edition of a new quilting magazine. I was really keen to read this so on my way home, I popped into the local supermarket to purchase a copy.
Over the next few days, I was having a look through and there was an article on 'framed' quilts, where a quilt has a 'central' block and all other pieces are arranged around and out from this centre. There were some lovely ideas, including having a diamond shape in the centre. I really loved this idea and it suddenly came to me that I could rotate my 'square' Rose Window' and make it into a diamond centre. That led to further design ideas!
